Hi chaps - finally got registered after having loads of probs with the account - thanks for sorting it Tom ....
Well - I'm currently building a 1.4 uno turbo x19 - this one looks different to a standard and handles like its on rails. If you are interested pics can be found on
www.p1x-2000.co.uk (under current projects)I built the site for my mate's business.
Anyhow - I bought a rebuilt engine in a running uno turbo car from avanti a couple of years ago. I ran it in gently and it really flew when I mot'd her. Had a lot of oil/smoke comming out the back after 2500 miles so my mate Nick is taking her apart.
The good news is that the rings are fine and everything avanti said they replaced has been done. The oil was from a nacked turbo (getting a turbo technics hybrid - bloody £700 quid!!!- seems mad) and also from a valve stem oil seal that had come off one of the exhaust ports.
Now that the engine is in bits I'm getting the crank balanced (along with the x19 flywheel) conrods polished and a light skim on the head - it has already been done lightly when avanti had it. I'll be using a spresso head gasket, a pace charge cooler (An intercooler is crap in the rear of a car with limited airflow),a pipercross induction kit and anything else that will make a nice, fast road engine.
Avanti recommended using the x19 1500 camshaft as an upgrade as it has more lift. Any experience with this?? Also any other ideas on performance upgrades? What power do you think I will get?
Im also having great difficulties getting hold of a bottom end gasket set. What do you guys use for your rebuilds? Fiat no longer do them.
I may have spare uno parts if anyone is interested
